You know you’re getting familiar with a city when you get lost, and you can still find your way somehow. Between the subways and the Seine, I can never be lost for too long. Anyway, most everybody’s lost in Paris at some point. I get stopped and asked for directions at least twice a day. Twice, I’ve even known the answer, ha!

And this is why I avoid Chatelet. It is always a mess. And when you have to walk for twenty minutes it makes you nuts. Certainly not a leisurely stroll. Arrgh.
Hah! I made a note to myself about it. Couldn’t remember if it was Chatelet or Opera that had the long moving walkway. It was Chatelet. Except this time, it was broken. So I got to walk it with various people passing me and slapping me with their bags without even saying “excuse me.” It is weird here how the men are quite flirtatious and complimentary, while at the same time, not very chivalrous. They’d race you for a seat on the Metro and then push you off.
